I love ice cream and Cool Haus, another L.A. gourmet food truck favorite, serves up a creative and delicious take on a classic childhood ice cream treat–the ice cream sandwich! Here’s how it works. First of all, you’ll need to get in line to place your order. Hopefully, it’s not too long. Once you place your order, you’ll have to be patient. You see, each ice cream sandwich is “custom built”. Customers have to choose the cookie they want to sandwich their choice of ice cream between. The most difficult part of this exercise is deciding which cookie and what ice cream to pair together. And there are a lot of sweet and savory choices to select from:
COOKIES: Sugar, Chocolate Chip, Ginger, Oatmeal and Chocolate
ICE CREAM: Dirty Mint Chip, Brown Butter w/ Candied Bacon, Chocolate Chipotle, Cinnamon, Coffee Toffee, Matcha Green Tea, Lemon, Madagascar Vanilla Bean, Sea Salt Caramel, Cabernet Lambrusco, Peanut Butter, Peanut Butter w/ Candied Bacon, Strawberry, Red Velvet, Balsamic Fig & Marscapone, Bananas Foster, Carrot Cake, Pistachio Truffle, Rootbeer, Seasonal Fruit Crumble, Blood Orange (Vegan) and Horchata (Vegan)
SERVED IN: An edible potato-based wrapper!
What did I order? I opted for the Chocolate and Peanut Butter & Candied Bacon Ice Cream. It was actually very good. The cookies were moist and chewy. The ice cream sweet and savory. Who would have thought pairing bacon and ice cream together???
