On a short stretch of Colorado Boulevard in Eagle Rock, there are surprisingly a number of Vietnamese restaurants all within blocks of one another. While they may share a common cuisine, they are all very different. My favorite among them (and I’ve tried them all) is Lemongrass Vietnamese Restaurant.
It’s a charming, cozy restaurant with friendly staff serving up amazing, hearty Vietnamese cuisine at a reasonable price and guaranteed to not leave you leave hungry. Well, at least for me anyways (I’ve yet to finish an entire meal)!
I stopped by for lunch last Tuesday with co-worker and friend Bobby G. Their pho and vermicelli bowl are my personal favorites. Bobby went for the Meat Pho and I opted for the Lemongrass Chicken & Egg Roll Vermicelli Bowl. While we waited for our entrees, we shared an order of Crispy Calamari–calamari lightly fried in a delicately seasoned batter and served over a bed of white onions, cilantro and jalapeños.
Bobby’s pho arrived in a big steaming bowl and my vermicelli bowl was filled with vermicelli noodles, lemongrass chicken, jalapeños, lettuce, bean spouts and a slightly sweet special sauce.
Great Vietnamese comfort food in a bowl–gotta love it!
